Wikipedia Change

As I posted earlier, I tried to add information to the plot of Jurassic Park. I added this information at about 11 in the morning and by 3:30 it was gone :(

Podcasts

Podcasts are a good thing to share in the classroom. It beats the old fashioned lecturing style most students are used to. I think that different is good. It is good to change things up in the classroom. You as a teacher can only lecture so long or use to many powerpoints before your students are bored to death. Podcasts are very educational and can be used to teach without boring the students. I found some really good and interesting podcasts. Three of them would be: Grammer Girl, Just vocabulary, Hogwarts radio. Grammer girl would be good for girls obviously. It is not only fun but it also teaches about english and grammer. Just vocabulary could be used for a variety of students. It focuses on vocabulary building which is usefull for all grades. Hogwarts radio could be incorporated if the students were reading Harry Potter or any of the other books in the series. All of these could be used and are important in one way or another.

Pros and Cons of Blogs

This one is a tough one. There are many pros and just as many cons in my opinion. One con would be that anyone can have one. Not only can anyone have one, but they can write whatever they want to on it, whether it is true or not. They can write about whatever and anyone can see it. Another con would be that where there are so many blogs it is difficult to find quality blogs. You have to dig and dig to find what you are looking for. Another con of a blog would be that it is time consuming. If you run a buisness or are communicating with someone on a regular basis then you must keep your blog up to date. This can take alot of time, especially if you are writing about something that is detailed. One pro to blogging is that anyone can have one and anyone can read it at any given moment. If you are running a buisness and need clients to read something all they have to do is check your blog. It is an easy way to keep in touch, and you can instantly get feedback. Blogging is just like anything else. It isnt perfect, it has its pros and cons just like everything else. However, when used correctly it can be a very useful tool.

Wiki Article

Also, like Laura, I chose to try and add information to a movie article. The movie I chose to try and add to was Jurrassic Park. I loved the movie as a kid and felt that I knew a great deal about it. After reading the article, I felt that they left a great deal out of the plot so I tried to add some more details to the plot. For those of you who have watched the movie remember the part where the T-Rex pushes the little boy who is still in the truck over the ledge. The article completely left out this part in the movie, so I tried to add it. I added it about 45 minutes ago and it is still on there. I will make another blog later tonight to see if it has been erased!

Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking can be used in a variety of ways in the classroom. Not only would social bookmarking help a teacher but may also help students. If every student had a delicious account they could organize sites they may need to use. Supposed they have a big research project due and need to keep up with all their sources and information. Social bookmarking would be an excellent way to do this. Teachers also may share sources for lessons or other information. There is a ton of ways social bookmarking could be useful in a classroom.
